My new paint texture for the Daz Millennium Horse model

I’ve been quite busy today making a new texture for the MiHorse model.

I’m calling it Scout (original huh!) and it’s a coloured horse paint texture with beautiful dapples on the bay part of the texture.

It is still a work in progress but will eventually be part of a texture pack available in my store. The test renders shown here have no post work applied to the actual horses they were simply rendered and arranged on the background in photoshop.

If there is any call for it I will be including the custom character/morph in the pack with the textures.

I didn’t realise just how good Carrara 7′s terrains can look until I started playing around with this render, and I hardly even scraped the surface as my now ageing computer was complaining too much when I upped the terrain resolution to what I was really wanting to work with.

Overall I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. The T-Rex model is from Daz3d

I had major surgery 10 days ago and only got out of hospital on Saturday. I am unable to manage the stairs and so am stuck with my daughter’s old laptop in bed and no access to the last 10 days worth of  emails on my main pc downstairs, so if any friends or customers have been trying to contact me please understand that I have not been ignoring you.

A texture I am working on for the adHorse model

Last night I bought the new adHorse 3d model from Renderosity and was fired up with making a texture for it.

I don’t get a lot of time to do any 3d work any more due my my health problems and spending time with our real life horses but I set to and after 24 hours this glossy bay texture (unfinished) seen here on the left is where I am at with it at the moment.

I’m very pleased with how it is coming along and hope to be able to finish it up to be uploaded to my store here with in the next few days.

The photos that I am using to create this texture are of the same pony that my “Native Pony” for the Daz3d Millennium horse and my “Winter Bay” textures for the Poser 4 horse were made from with the difference that these are of him in his shiny dappled bay summer coat.

The above test image of the adHorse model is rendered in Daz|Studio (from Daz3d), as it was a test render I didn’t add any lights and upped the ambient settings of the materials as I didn’t want any shadows obscuring and problems.

Horse Tubes for Paint Shop Pro

Prancing Ponies Tube for Paint Shop Pro.

Prancing Ponies is actually a set of five tubes featuring five adorable 3d ponies made with my own unique custom morphs and textures (not released to date) in different styles to suit every need. One each of the following styles:

• Realistic 3d

• Pencil Sketch

• Drawing

• Coloured Pencil

• Watercolour

These are not only useful to adding to your 3d scenes (in post work) but also for stationary, cards, website design, illustration, tags and more!.
You can also get more from the Pencil Sketch and Drawing tubes by adding them in a separate layer and changing the layer style from normal to multiply or luminosity and others to get a range of effects.

For this animation I made the horse textures in Photoshop (the horse model is the Millennium Horse from Daz3d) and then key framed the gallop animation from a video inside Poser 6, saving it as an animated pose and a PZ3.

Then I opened up Vue Pro Studio and created the landscape and lighting and imported three copies of the PZ3 (Poser save file), changing the textures of two of the so that they looked like different horses. I set the gallop animations to repeat and used the animation wizard to create the gallop paths.

The final touch was to parent one of my cameras to one of the horses and add some tweaks to it to make it more realistic looking. I rendered out two separate camera angles, one from the side and one with the animated, parented camera and then joined them together,adding sound and titles.

Even though it is quite short I enjoyed making it and was pleased with the result – a rarity for me!
